Coffeebar was honored with a National ADDY award for its coffee bag packaging campaign at the 2019 American Advertising Awards held this year in Hollywood, Fl.
This year, the annual American Advertising Awards consisted of nearly 35,000 entries across the country, judged three times in a tiered system, creating one of the world’s largest and most prestigious creative advertising competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards, hosted by the American Advertising Federation, is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in advertising.
Coffeebar’s creative director, Leah Chew, conceptualized, illustrated, and designed the coffee packaging in tandem with the opening of the Coffeebar Roastery located in Midtown Reno and the launch of the company’s fully in-house roasting program. The design highlighted Coffeebar’s roots, ethos, and reimagined brand as well as honored the evolution of its “Hand Roasted, Vertically Sourced” coffee program – focusing on intentional sourcing, long-term partnerships with producers and importers, and a genuine commitment to origin.
“In the presence of some of the most prestigious creative agencies for big budget clients such as McDonalds, Xfinity, The Walt Disney Company…I am honored Coffeebar could be showcased in the same room,” Chew said. "So much passion for the craft goes into each aspect of Coffeebar – our coffee, food, hospitality, cafe experiences, design – so to have our brand’s story and mission resonate with so many on a national level is just incredible.”
Along with the National Silver ADDY win for packaging, Coffeebar also won Gold for packaging and Silver for illustration at the District 14 ADDY Awards, and Gold in both categories at the Reno-Tahoe ADDY Awards this year.
About the American Advertising Awards:
The American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDYs, is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local American Advertising (AAF) Ad Club competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.
Conducted annually by the AAF, the local Ad Club phase is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie to win ADDY Awards—recognition as the very best in their markets. At the second tier, local ADDY winners compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions. District ADDY winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage of the American Advertising Awards.
Entering the American Advertising Awards supports the entire advertising industry, because the AAF and its local and district affiliates use the proceeds to enhance advertising through programs such as public service, internships, advocacy groups, advertising education, and consumer awareness.
